Nothing? That's so sad... Christmas can be anti-corporate without getting nothing. Giving imho, is important, spending is not.

You misunderstand....for me, Christmas is for the children. They are the ones who's eyes light up when they open their presents. I have seldom seen that same light in an adult's eyes and most likely that gift, you fought the holiday crowds and braved cold and sometimes dangerous weather for , will be returned for something else.
I recieved nothing tanglible, nothing to hold in my hand.... but the treasures of memories.....Priceless.

So long as you're happy... I definitely agree with the commercial evils of Christmas. I was brought up however that gifts are gifts, you don't get to chose them, and it is a heinous insult to exchange them (unless it's a size issue). Even if the giver doesn't know, the insult is there...
I'm glad that the kids brought joy to your heart on this happy day. "Nothing tangible" says much more than "nothing", which is so definitive.
Merry Christmas :-)

People's taste are not always your own and sometimes when they do ask what want and you tell them, they still fight you tooth and nail. My boyfriend asked me one Christmas what I wanted and I told him that I wanted a Combo saw (does miter and square cuts). He told me flat out no- I'm not buying my girl friend a tool. I told him that I didn't need anything else. Finally, he relented. Second most favorite tool of mine, right below my sawsall. For my birthday, I got the stand to go with it!

Well done with the tool. I had the same issue when I informed rich rellos of mine that all my wife wanted were garden tools, serious ones... they wanted to get us vases and stuff, which we have SOOO much of.
Re purple polkadot tie? I don't know, I've never had that problem. Sometimes I get too much aftershave, or deodorant or socks... perhaps it's just that if ppl who know me don't know what to get me, the play the 'safe' card.
The other thing is, as a guy (who rarely looks at himself) I rely on others to guide me with fashion... so I'd probably wear the tie! :geek:

hmmm yes back on topic!
I got a new pump, a lemon tree (in a pot) some 5 dvds, the remainder of the wedgewood table setting that my folks were buying me... (it's taken 4 rounds of present giving to get the whole thing - blessedly expensive) Tickets to see Billy Joel (got them early, saw him last month) ummm that's about all...
