Hehehe was going to say the same, but couldn't remember the sillyname... couldn't be bothered looking it up. Close enough to a galah, both look stupid and are destructive, and I don't know anybody who's eaten one, so there's no excuse to shoot them...

Yep, at 04:30 there's about 40-50 of the darn things eating the pine nuts off the conifer outside my bedroom window..... bloody pest... bloody noisy pest....

These things are "galahs" though.... in the sense of the Australian "idiom"... noisy brash likeable idiots...

They like to hang upside down on the power lines, by the claws or their beck.... then flap their wings and swing up and over... and around and around..... idiots...

Got them all at home, Corella's, Cockies, Galah's and a Peacock that flew into town a few months ago and decide to roost in the gum tree outside the bedroom Window.

That one single Peacock Honks continually from about 5:00am till about 7:30am when it flies down and starts wandering around town and then from about 7pm when it flies back up the tree till about 1/2 hour after dark when I assume it goes to sleep.

If it gets woken in the middle of the night it honks again for about another 1/2 hour till it settles.

The Cockies, Corellas etc. although more destructive are noisy in more socialable hours than that Peacock.

Now I wonder if the word C-o-c-kies is going to be censored

Cheers
Ron

Got a camera for Christmas so I figured I would take and post a pic. It is nice to see things growing in the winter.

This is a photo of a tendril off of my Honeydew melon. The spiral is 5mm tall. I hung the vine netting a couple of days ago and I was amazed at how quickly the tendrils grabbed and twisted.

Nicest Strawb flowers I've seen this year... (and I've had some nice strawbs... somehow the strawberries never survive the weeding/pruning process.
