They look like they are part of the tandanus family, so I would say their tolerances would be similar, but I'll check.

just my two cents

Were all for getting them out of the river system. Just trying to see if they can be useful in tank maintenance. Not for breeding.

The only good carp in Australia is a dead one! If you have seen what they have done to the native fish population in the Murray you would have a similar view!

We used to catch them by the dozen in the Murray, using corn kernels as bait(straight form the can!), fun to catch! Then dig a big hole and bury them! We did try eating one once after talking to an old italian guy we met who explained how to prep and cook them - it was still terrible!

I think the best use for them in a AP system would be to grind them up into food for a more favorable fish species! (ie. a native)

I think the taste of Carp may depend on what its been feed. I heard if you kill and try to eat a sheep that has been feeding on wild turnip the meat will smell and taste like pee. Thats only what I've been told. And Carp in the rivers gets a lot of help from people only catching the other fish. And a lot of fishermen don't abide on the breeding seasons. This past cod breading season I know of 5 people that caught them. And with the flood water a lot of larger cod were hooked while confused with the flood water. The pictures made the local paper. Nothing was said about the 3 days left before you are allowed to catch them.
