I'll bring some blu-tac and put some random bolts and screws around the walls just to make it look more "lived-in" , heh

maybe mines just a mess right now cause I havent done my usual "hide all the ugly bits with decking" yet

nice work on the shade , I might have to steal your idea once I get back to working on the other system

At $30 bucks a bundle that `s a minor problem ,I can replace rather rapidly if needed as well.
I`ll put a cross brace across the length of it to make it more solid and replace the shadecloth with greenhouse film for winter.
The lack of height is the only concern but I will mesh the fence and try to get as much horizontal growth as I can as well I can let plants spill down.
It`s not perfect but it`s the best I can do with available space.

Water tests today ,seems I have nitrites and PH down from 7.8-8.0
PH 7.2
Amm 2
NO2 .25
NO3 0
Water Temp 23c

I put a couple kilo of salt into the system yesterday and the goldfish are ravenous.
So that`s about 12 days since I started pumping water how long before I should start to see some nitrates as I have a crapload of sprouts pushing there heads up. :cyclopsani:

Within a week, but at low fish loads you may not get any nitrates showing at all. I dont.

That ammonia is in dangerous territory.

Can you do a slow water change? Leave a hose running into the system very slowly?

Seems to cause a lot less disruption to the system.

Hehe was just looking at that table on the Ammonia thread.
Will do a top up then take readings again. It has been sitting at 2 or just under (not quite a solid 2 colour but close enough)for 3 days while the nitrite has spiked to 1
