Well if your day starts at sun up and finished at sundown
what difference does it make?
They are only numbers on a clock,
it is up to us to make it good for us, not baggage.
It does wake a few people up earlier too :geek:
to enjoy the birds cherping before the traffic (for the city folk)
The rest of us hear them all day :coocoo:
Best time of the day for me for sure :flower:
bit of Daoyin
D&M over :flower:

lol...............yes your right it does go up................would that be because its in the warmer part of the year???????????????????????

Compared to the same period the previous year without DLS. Would have thought the intent of the post was obvious.

The intent may be obvious, but the rise in energy consumption is negligible. Western Power research indicates DLS caused a 0.6% increase in power usage.

I agree that is goes too long in the current trail, and I am sure that it will not get voted in regardless of my Yes vote.

There are lies, damned lies and then there are Statistics. :)
Was that 0.6% based on percentage of domestic use or percentage of total usage? The reason this is significant is because we are being asked to cut back on household power use, and it costs us. However that statistic gives the impression that there will be insignificant costs to households due to DLS.

I would also point out we are supposedly commited to a reduction in greenhouse gas. You think 0.6% is not significant?

I wondered the same thing re % of domestic or of total use. I think their point is we should be alarmed at 10% increase in consumption (more people/more AirCon) when we should be reducing, and DLS was a small part of the increase.

I guarantee my home A/C use has reduced by least half as of last summer. Better insulation and security screens on all the old wooden windows, which allows windows to be left open when we aren't there and overnight, was the key.

To Summarise:-

People vote for DL because:-

(1) They can't be bothered to play with their children in the morning.
(2) Because the Government has decided, without a mandate (actually against a previous mandate) to do it.
(3) Business wants it
(4) They wish to expose themselves more to high UV in a State which has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the country.
(5) They prefer ES milk because ours goes off quicker.
(6) Air conditioners mean they can live in an ill designed box without too much discomfort in the hottest part of the day and so can their children.
(7) They think that they will still be able to afford the extra electricity that will rise at an alarming rate.
(8) They think that they are prepared to put up with the time dislocation problem and the changing of appliances twice a year.
(9) Victoria and NSW are always right because thats where our 'leaders' are and they have it.

I would have mentioned fading curtains, but I don't believe it has any effect; however I did manage to get in the cows
