Ok Rupe, so if you get home from an airconned office etc at 3pm or 3.30 pm, as opposed to 4 pm or 4.30 pm you are telling me that it makes absolutely no difference? Did last year.
If it's that hot when you get home... that you need to put the aircon on... then, unless a major front and temp plunge happens about that time... an hour isn't going to make a difference... you'll still put the aircon on...
OK... so for an hour you run your home aircon, instead of using the "office" aircon.... personally... if it's that hot... do what I do, and thousands of others... take advantage of the glorious sunshine (and extra hour)... and go to the beach, or swim in the pool...
You're still only getting xx hours of sunlight, and heat, regardless of what the blooming clock says....

Also why did the Cancer Council change its website in regards to school children?
This one does make some sense... in as much as school lunchtimes were structured some years ago to take place about 1-1.5 hours after midday, the (theoretically) hottest and highest UV time... by pushing the clock, this does have a "potential" affect... standard rules apply... slip, slop, slap, hat & wrap....

No comment on who pushes for State referendums?
I regard any change, imposed, without a mandate as very dubious; personally I don't give a flying *frack* about me, however I do about my grandchildren.
Yep, it does intrigue me that "governments" are prepared to go to war without referendum, but float them for other, seemingly trivial reasons....
But by going to referendum... I think they should be a constant process

.... they will/are seeking a mandate... and you have the chance to vote accordingly.
But I say again.... DLS does NOT alter the length of daylight or influence the daily temperature....
It may alter our habits... and that's exactly what it's supposed to do... give us the time, warmth, and light to get out and enjoy some recreation/family activity... instead of spending the entire day in an "airconned" office...
