Cement tank should be a good structure if you put a liner in it.

yep if in doubt just cover it.

If you're still looking to coat it there are epoxy type coatings available. I was looking into this for water catchments and epoxy seemed the "safe" way to go but a bit pricey.

Rupe by stable I meant that the cement was fully cured etc, at $10 for that size you got a bargain.

OK... talked to the bloke... here's the skinny...

The "pits" are concrete, definitely no asbestos... they're brand new... and were originally made for Telstra as phone pits, before Telstra switched to poly pits....

And there are plenty available.... $20 each.... PM me if you're interested...

They have been using the poly pits for 10 years. Or at least out here anyway.

C1 has just spent 24hrs on the road moving K1 from Kalgoorlie to Australind.
We just emptied the truck tonight.
He is looking a bit like Weary Dunlop now and still a day away from internet.

It would be good to use this as a test if you have the time Rupe. It may end the conjecture if concrete needs a coating in AP.
If you do have the time fill it with water leave for a day and test for PH.
Leave tank full for a week, test for PH, hopefully it will be lower. Refill wait a week, test for PH.
Repeat process for up to 6 weeks.
I have the feeling what is going to leach will do so in this time frame.

Give it a go  .

Cheers Leon.

"SIkatite BE" is the stuff I used ( Thanks C1 )
20L drum minimum but its only about 140 bucks , and it goes a loooong way - Ive done 3 coats on a barrel , two coats on another barrel and 3 coats on a 7m long pond and theres still about half left in the bucket

smells a bit bad ( like wet road , it is bitumous sealer ) when you put it on , spray it out after 10 days then its potable water safe .
All 3 times I've let water sit in it for a week then drain and spray , then another week then drain and spray before I fill it and theres no smell or water discolouration

with the pond that I used it on I let the render dry for 2 weeks , scrubbed it , washed it , let it dry another week then just slapped the Sikatite on
Its great stuff as far as Ive experienced , even used it to coat the inside of a blue barrel when I didnt like the smell that was coming out of it

It'd be good to know if it does hold water. :D
I suggest it will??
If it holds water then there is no need to coat it. 8)
Does it have a hydrostatic valve? :?:
I guess if you haven't seen it you may not know.
Are there any identifying marks?
C1
