Hi,

I started my system on 15 Nov. I stocked the 1000l FT with 25 barra fingerlings.
I have been doing the water tests and it looks like the system is initializing correctly. I am new to this AP thingy so I am only going by what I have read here.

Today I noticed two dead barra in the tank. They had been nibbled on by the other fish but seemed a bit larger than when they went in 12 days ago.
There is uneaten food in the FT.

My water test result are included in the picture.

Should I be concerned about the deaths?
I think I'll stop feeding for a day or so and see if they clean up the leftovers.

Any advice is welcome.

that ammonia at that pH is bad for fish I would hold off feeding till your ammonia is down and try in the mean time to lower you pH to at least 7. The ammonia is less toxic the lower the pH.
THe nitrification process is an acidifying process so it will come down but it can tatke time.

Any way good luck, also siphon out the food that is left on the bottom of the tank this is adding to your problem.

Yep, get rid of the pellets, dont feed any more. Add 1kg of pool salt.

I have already siphoned out the old pellets.
Pool Salt will be added later today.

Thanks for the advice.
It's a bit hard to tell if I'm being overly concerned or not. But I want to keep on top of it.

You have what pond people call "new pond syndrome." I had this pretty bad at our school. Salt, stop feeding, and do some water changes. If you can, seed the pond with water from a mature tank or pond. What worked well was shaking out a tank filter into our ponds. I can't really say what worked the best because we tried so many things.
