sorry to read about your fish losses Les. And you should tell your greenhouse to stop drinking so much :drunken:

Anyone heard from VB?

Glad you're in one piece. At least your greenhouse is still in the same place even if it is on a bit of a lean. :angel11:

Dang, looks a bit like damage from one of our storms. So you think the greenhouse going over was all just the wind or did the flow of water do it too? If it was due to the flooding, I would say add some openings along the bottom of the plastic so the water can flow through the sides without as much resistance if this kind of storm is likely to happen again. But if it was due to wind, I guess there is only so much you can do with a greenhouse.

I guess it's time to make sure the backup wiring and other equipment is more protected for next time!
Good luck with the repairs/re-build.

Wind reported at 120-130kph, so it was definitely the wind that pushed the GH over...there is/was shadecloth on the base (to allow air flow) but the buildup of debris on the inside probably popped the shadecloth off the end as the water pressure built up

I have logged all the deficiencies in system-II and have started design on Sys-III :D

Flaw No.1 - if burying sump tanks make them out of concrete...plastic tubs just don't seem to be the ideal

Thanks for all the encouragement

Looks like you'll need some fish recipes Les, sorry mate.

I've done what I can to help straighten things up:

Wheely bins make good sumps just when you bury them leave the wheels on and then concrete around them

sorry about your losses les, thought VB was in trouble(and he was) but hoped you might have escaped. apparently not.

Any way sorry for your losses, are you going to eat them?
good luck with the big tree though,
I know that system 3 will be bigger and better than even this one.
Nick

PS luckily I knew that the storm was going to knock out power in ferny hills so I moved my entire system to west end. What lock I would have definately been in your boat with the fish if I was back in ferny hills.

Wow, that stinks!

It seems like something is always getting broken in these systems. In the end with many lessons learned the combined knowledge and experience of the AP community should give us commercial grade AP system builds. Starting with a different design on backup systems and green houses ;)

Best of luck with system 3 mate!
