Does anyone have a good suggestion for stands, I dont have the money for the beaut galvanised ones or the steel for ordinary ones, its xmas I dont have the 600 dolllars for the steel alone but I was thinking about using hardwood sleepers, 2 underneath the growbeds for support and then some for the verticles the hold these 2 up, what does everyone think, i want to start digging my tank in tomorrow

Reckon you could get away with milk crates wired together, depends on how high you want to go and how hot it gets.

Bree, how many GBs do you have? the steel shouldn't be that expensive... but maybe...
Being that you're considering sleepers, treated pine would be cheaper and certainly strong enough. I have a gb made from 70x35mm untreated pine, and it's fine, after 2 years. (although cos it's untreated it's always going to be temporary - probably make a new one when it breaks ;-) )
The nasty treadedness of the pine shouldn't be able to get into your system, cos it'll be under your GB.

If you're looking into steel, I had 50x25 with a wall thickness of 2.0 - 2.5 recommended to me, for supports no longer than a 2m span. That's pretty light stuff, and should be cheap (so long as you can weld)

Hmmmm $150 of steel per stand... some1's paying retail... have a hunt around, you're getting ripped off. Steel should cost about $2/kg that's some damnably heavy stands at 75kgs...
