Went to Rothwell today, expecting to pay $79. Get there only to be told they sold them all out at $19!

Rang around, and Caloundra have heaps for $79, however through a bit of conniving, I managed to get Rothwell to transfer a pallet of them to Rothwell, and then they told they would sell them at $19!

They said it might take a couple of weeks to get them transferred (buggered if i know why so long), but they would keep mine aside for me an let me know when they arrive.

I can try and grab some for you if they're still some left when I get mine?

Mate - at that price I'd buy 5, just for use around the place in the garden etc, not so much for AP. Let me know if you are able to grab some for me at that price and I'll pop around and get them off you :D

My B looks like they've sold them all as well. A shame because I was going to get a couuple to store water for watering some plants I'm going to put into a remote part of my yard.

Any word on the pallet you were organising Ryan?

Just a thought from a newby, but there are enough of us in SE Queensland that it could be possible to get a couple of pallets direct from a factory, Price/volume ratios can get quite stunning at the 100 or more unit prices, prehaps a new thread to get expressions of intrest?

I'll not be using these tanks for AP long term, due to them not being food grade, but was interested in using one to help me water some pigeon pea and vetiver grass plants that I'm going to put in the back part of my yard shortly - to try and outgrow the weeds .

I have a gully going through my place which I would pump water out of (into the tanks) and then gravity feed to the plants. The water in the gully is also something I wouldn't like even touching my body too much, but will be suitable for giving the plants a start.

I went out to B today, but couldn't see them anywhere. They told me I should expect a call middle of the week to let me know they've arrived.

At $19, I plan to buy the whole pallet. I have a few orders already from friends and family, and the rest can go to BYAPers who might want them.

I must admit, I'm also a little bit suss on using them for AP - still haven't decided yet what I'm goign to use mine for. I need a 500L sump to finish my nursery system, and these are a really good price.

Damn B - finally got my tanks today, but unfortunately they only got 2 in!! Even though I initially ordered 3, and was told they were getting a pallet in, 2 is all I got :(

Sorry to those who wanted one... :x

Update on the 500L B pots. They are made of 'virgin' polypropylene (recycle code 5 and a potential food grade material) but the B pots are not food safe because of the density of the material. If pp is not of the right density the surface is slightly porous and therefore may harbour pathogens and does not meet the standard for 'food grade'.

But what the heck, soil isn't food safe either, but most food plants are grown in that, not mention the fish grown in dams and rivers - not exactly 'food safe' or pathogen free containers either. So I have purchased several for GB's (at $79 each!)

porosity will harbour nitrobacter and nitrobacyllus or however you spell em ;-)
perhaps also some anaerobic bugs that will add trace elements to the system

I am going to give them a try anyway, I feel that, like the tubs I use for the fish, these tanks can be made relatively safe by giving it a series of thorough washes with a strong salt solution and multi fungal antibiotics such as Aristo pet Multi Cure followed by a max dose of Safe or Prime.

In near 30 years of keeping fish, I have never lost fish or fallen ill to any contact with the tubs, as was mentioned earlier, if you are really concerned, why not have your produce checked before consuming it?

Perhaps we need to remember that these tanks are promoted as Rain Water Tanks [for both garden and drinking] so why, if indeed they are dangerous, are they still on sale [B Sth Nowra has them in stock at $79 each]

Just my thoughts on the matter.
Cheers
VM

Actually... I think they're listed (or were)... as "not for drinking water"
