End result..... by mid June....

Glen had sold 75,000 Australian Bass fingerlings for restocking release in various rivers and dams....

20,000 Mulloway fingerlings.... with another 5,000 going out this weekend.... the remaining 2-3,000 going to be kept for recirc research to replace the bream trial....

Glen considers it his best every fry to fingerling conversion.... and is smiling all the way to the bank....

We've asked for a profit sharing arrangement.....

Well Stu (Monya), Dan and I have a few fish stories to tell after the last few days...

Especially after today, when we induced a 3.5kg Silver Perch to spawn..... expecting about 300,000 eggs tomorrow morning.... and at lease 150,000+ Silver Perch fry by Friday morning....

A fun day.... pictures when I get home... promise ....

How old is a 3.5 kg Silver Perch? Are they using hormones?

I know, I know, when you get home

Okay, HCG is Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. It works by bypassing the brain and pituatary (sp?) glands which normally send signals to the ovaries that it is time to finish the development of the eggs and spawn ( ie in the wild, raining water levels and temps) and acting straight on the ovaries. .. So injecting the fish basically skips the steps required to get them to spawn naturally, and 36 hours aprox later you have eggs (given all other things okay)

What you want the "brand" name... the active ingredients.... or just what it does....

It's actually a "human" hormone.... when injected triggers that ovaries directly to spawn the "eggs" .... males are injected at the same time to trigger their "milt" in response to spawning...

Bit like fish "viagra"....
