Our internet is horrendously slow at the moment so I doubt Nic will visit here for a while so I will post an update.

Nic is doing work experience with the 'Barra' guy in two weeks so final negotiations will happen then... Basically he has said that the more WE want, the more fingerlings he will get so the cheaper it will all get. There are 3000 of them if we need that many...

This guy is a consultant and his main work is mostly outside of the state and overseas. He has a small aquaculture setup (small as in ~100,000L) that he operates at his own property. He wants to deal through Nic and I mainly to stop the small fish (pardon the pun) coming to him for small orders and taking up his time, and expecting free advice. Which is fair enough if that is how he makes a living. Plus he wants to give Nic a bit of encouragement in the fish trade.

The idea isn't to make a profit out of this, I suppose if we can get the cost down of our fish stock by buying more of them, then ultimately I am getting my summer stock a bit cheaper as is everyone else... Hopefully I won't have to move a 1000 of them to get a reasonable price for everyone...

We will keep you posted...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it seems barramundi are in short supply this season and the little guys "me" are not valuable to sell to :(

My supplier was giving me the barramundi at 1/2 price so when supply gets tight and he cannot fill all the big orders my order gets taken over for more important ones.

I will be in contact with him and i may be able to get some barramundi (finger crossed). As you may have seen a big supplier over east has also cancelled any barramundi fingerlings this season and another up north! Boris jump on that opportunity to get the barra if your mate can get them, I am sure with this demand fingerling prices will be fairly dicey this season if there are many out there.

Again I am sorry to let you all down but there is next season and I will get in VERY early.

Out of intrest I may be able to get some 110mm Silver perch (Bidyanus bidyanus) @ $4-5ea let me know if anyones interested.

Nic

Thats pretty expensive for silvers that size Nic, usually $2.50 or so each for small orders.
