Thought I'd let you guys knw that Hydroponic Warehouse at Enoggera is having a sale on Canna brand hydraton, at $22 for a 45L bag. I picked up 4 today to finish my nursery system, and my mum got 10 to do her IBC setup.

$25 a 45L bag at New Age Hydro at HILTON in SA.... good price.
I was using blue metal. Once I tried clay there was no going back.

Have to stick to gravel. Unless they give a good deal on 4000ltrs. Might top the GB's off later with clay, no one will dig too deep. :cyclopsani:

I used gravek for the bulk of mine. Wish I oculd justify using clay for the whole lot - sure is nice to work with ;)

I see hydroton as a worth while investment.
See the advantages of gravel and hydroton. Maybe 50/50. It is just to easy planting in hydroton.
Worth having a decent amount.

Call mine gravel but the first lot was washed river rock. The next batch is going to be gravel and then later clay to make it look pretty. Your right about planting in the stuff. I use PVC and dig out the inside. It does hold the plants once you can get them in it. Have not tried clay but it looks like it moves easily.

A video was put up a short time ago. I think it was monya at an exhibition. He pulled out a good size plant to show the roots and a little shake shake shake and it was planted again. I was sold right then and there.
What can I say, I'm an office worker and the hands don't like the gravel.

Thanks for the head up Ryan - I need a few bags, so might head over. I need about 11 or 12 to fill another grow-bed and have 7 left over from a previous purchase.
