I was thinking what might be a useful idea is to have an area in the forum to discuss each plant separately. Maybe one way could be to create a whole new category called Plants, with each type a sticky (eg tomatoes, celery, cucumber, etc). It would make it very easy to then create, add to and find threadsd on a particular plant. There's other websites that do this, but they're not specific to AP.

Waddya all reckon?

I agree that starting threads about particular plant types is a good idea.

As to stickying them all, well if there is a section of the forum where all the threads are stickied, then it kinda defeats the purpose of the sticky. Just make sure the subject of the thread is clear enough to be easy to search and that should help things.

yep, you start the threads, clearly named and we will sticky them for you :D

Stickies are always found at the top of the list in each section of the forum.

The idea of the sticky is hopefully they would end up in alphabetical order - is this the case?

Is it wise to start a distinct category before we start making the threads, so the mods don't have to try and find them?

maybe a single sticky thread with a post full of links to the relevant threads? That way the mods (and I'm pretty sure that means Jaymie  ) can keep adding links and keeping them in order.

Kinda like this

That's exactly where I got the idea from! A great site, so I thought if we could make something similar for AP it would be very handy.

Also a good idea, except less ability for Q&A.

Neat site. Pity only localised. Also only for planting. We couls have a real filo-fax of info..... with best pH for the plant for uptake of nutrients, unusual nutritional or medicinal benefits, height it can grow to, sun/shade, fish food capabilities, people just add as they find stuff........ etc.
Even comments about problems solved in raising the plant....
Could be a really cool set of threads  :flower:
I would start with Moringa!  :D

If you mention "moringa" one more time... you'll be kidnapped and made to live in the same room with Chappo for a week....

After that we'll send the men in white coats around to carry you off in the feotal position gibbering ...."moringa....nnoooooo... please .... I don't ever want to hear the word Moringa again.... pleaseeeee ...." .....

FYI Chelle, Chappo hasn't posted for a while... and yes, as you've guessed... it was he who first brought the wonder of the Moringa plant to the attention of the forum....

And mentioned it again.... and again.... and again.... and again... and....

Apparantly, it's also a widely used tilapia fish feed in Thailand where Chappo and his brother run a fish farm...

let me launch another one:
anybody have any experience with Kiwi Berries (Actinidia arguta) ?
they are the "furry skin -less" alternative to the well known Kiwi
and apparently can be grown in moderate climates as they are winter hard

please point e to the Kiwi Berry specialists
