Auto focus. Happens to me all the time. Silly camera wanting to look at something else.

Nice plants. I kill a lot of lettuce, will have to try the NFT.

Anyone want to know how fragile a hydroponics operation can be... or for those that thought it might be a set & forget sort of thing....

Warm day here today ... about 35c.... checked the hydro stuff this morning... aOK...

Seemed alright with a quick glance around lunchtime...

Checked again about an hour ago... and noticed a few plants seemed a bit wilted...

One of the spagetti lines had blocked.... channel was dry.....

Roots had turned brown very quickly... damn that autofocus... but you can get the idea that they are not happy and healthy..

what amount of oxygen do you have gowing into your water reserve?

Haven't actually measured it... but sufficient... these were only the first few plants in a single channel that had no water flow due to a blocked delivery tube...

Plants have since recovered just fine...

how deep are your channels, and how far in the water are the roots?

Hi Ducky... channels are 100mm*50mm..... run a film about 5mm in the tray... roots grow down into the water... fan out/along....

I'll see if I can get a decent picture tomorrow... if I can find a way past the autofocus... guess I'll have to RTFM......

Had a surprise visit from Scott11006 and family this evening.... impromptu mini "open" day....

Scotts' wife is keen to grow a lot of spinach in a system.... Scotts' daughter reckons she never wants to eat a spinach pie again.....

Hope you and the family enjoyed seeing the fish feed Scott....

we have been absolutely stoked with our plant growth in the nft. Basil and lettuces growing noticably daily. So far, better than gravel I reckon, once we got the ph and water level in the channels sorted out so it was dep enuf to touch the bottom of the net pots. ie we have 2 x feed tubes to each channel to have the flow up a bit and decreased the slope from one end to the other.
