Hi all

I have not started my system yet I am still hanging on for the Department of land to get a move on with the subdivision of the land I want
what with that and the fisheries paperwork just to carry fish around it seems to take for ever
first things first
I think I have the size of the tank worked out 15mx15mx3 x785= 529875 lters of water as per
http://www.creativepumps.com.au/Pumps/q ... /chart.htm

That seems a load of water for 250 fish
The grow beds will be 5mtrs long and 2mrts wide and 300 deep x 8 of them on the diagonal
I would like to put in a system like you would run for a reticulation system with the valves /solenoids on a timer
anyone please correct me on the above if it can be done this way and the amount of water in the tank

I hope to have the going by Jan/Feb 07 If I get the ok for the farm that it
Q

Lot of gravel to wash :sad5:

(Rectangular Ponds Length x Width x Depth (metres) x 1000 = Volume in litres, measured around the outside)

Rule of thumb growbed area is on a 2:1 ratio to the fish pond area - another rule/guide is 50litres of grow bed to 1kg of fish

8 @ (5m * 2m * 300mm)/50 = 480kg of fish can be supported

Each grow bed flooded will hold approx 1500litres ( medium takes up 50% space)

Fish pond around 80 m2 (15m * 5m)

These are rough guidelines, throw up the pond dimensions and type of fish

HI Guys
This is it
I did measure the tank wrongly it is a round tank that is 15 metres around
so all the measuring is wrong
anyway it will be the size of that tank around by 2 metres high
the grow beds
I am getting a Polly tunnel of 22 meters long and 6.1 wide
The grow beds will be 5 metres long 2 metres wide and 300 deep on the diagonal all the grow beds will be inside the Polly tunnel the tank will be in on end of the sheering shed
I would like to put a system in place that is like a reticulation system with solenoid valves and a timer if possible so I can set each grow bed to flood out one at a time
any way that's the idea
I have cleared the space for the tunnel to go and the part of the shed next is cutting down the tank the only reason its that large is because I have a grain silo if fact two of the things to large for anything that I want to do on the farm when I get hold of it
hope this all makes sense

Q, surely this system is commercial sized. Are you going into business with this? Sorry if I have missed something.

Hi Monya
No Not a business
we have a load of oldies where we live, last year we got rid of loads to them plus my own family it will not take long to get rid of a load of fresh veggies in the bush you can get them for love or money, any way I love fish and I am to far away from the sea now to go get some when I like so the fish have to come to me

Then you are a ledgend (nothing wrong with doing it commercially though, hell, I would love to one day when I'm semi retired LOL)
Will be just great to see a huge system like that take shape.

Hi EllKayBee
Thanks for that the sums look better already 35,000 odd litres of water sounds a lot but you do not waste a lot of it
I have planed this for a while so lets hope it all works out
