No traps here Frank :D

Useing the passive aerator (which is very similar to what Fremantle Tafe use (in conjunction with standard airstones)) - would a 20w water pump beat a 20w air pump for dissolved oxygen?.....I can see I'm going to have to buy a DO meter and test some of this stuff out

Maybe a horizontal aerator would work well with a small water pump - I just cant get over the severe ineficiencies of small (sub 50w) water pumps. A 20w air pump has to do a better job than a 20w water pump surely? The larger vortex water pumps would at least equal an air pump, probably beat them. But smaller ones??

Bring on our propellor pump overlords :D

Has anyone found a cheap DO tester. Would be interesting to test different types of o2 systems but more interesting would be to test how fast o2 is used when the power is out. Give people an idea on how much o2 is used per kg of fish per hr in different systems. Would let you know if there is going to be a problem if the power is out for an hr or 10.

Talked to an aquarium place about DO testers and he seemed to know who was importing them before. Will look into getting cheap ones for the AP incline.

I'll dig it up later Duff.... got a list of suppliers & pricing somewhere...

They're not cheap though, for accurate ones, anyway...
