Don't know if I'm missing something or the 5 beers and glass of red is clouding my judgement, but are those long troughs grow beds. Bloody .........
How big will the fish tank be.

The fish tank will be around 10KL. Hence the long GBs are 10KL Each.

How deep are they.

They start at about .5m at one end and end up being 1m.

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your land. The whole sinking star picket thing.

Yep. The ground was really soft :)

It appears that a large part of the site is affected not just a localised patch or two. Once you get through the top soil there is a hard compacted layer of soil below which the ground is so soft you can stick your finger into it. No idea why and there dosn't seem to be a change in the composition of the soil (no colour change or anything). I dug a test hole about 1.5m deep and while I couldn't see the end of the layer of compacted soil I could find it by running my hand down the side of the hole.

Well thanks to the excellent suggestion of FnF and Garry of Kyneton Carpet World I now have carpet.

Garry even helped me load it into the trailer.

Will that be enough do you think?

Went to pick up Aedweard again today and did some shopping.

Here is the classic reason why I don't like twin cabs.... you can never fit anything in them
Give me a tray or a full cab 4x4 not a compromise that dosn't work.

Wife: it's not ment to fit all his stuff :!: , A twin cab is a great vehicle for a young family, room for the baby seats, room for the prams, room for the nappy bag, room for the shopping, and in our son's case with lots of hospital visits room for the over night bags.
Not having room for all of Staurt's stuff means I get my car more often :D

It will be going along the bottom of the GBs to assist with draining them.

Since they are so long without some sort of extra drainage I believe it will take to long for the water to drain through the gravel to the outlet. With the ag pipe in place if I want to drain the bed quickly I'll be able to.

About your curious soil, perhaps you a layer of quick clay, it would be very rare for Australia, but not totally impossible.

Progress. Ordered my Laguna 1100 Max Flow pump today.

Things kind of on hold until it arives because I don't want to put water into the rest of the liners until I've got the pump and I don't want to put the FT liner in until I'm ready to put the water in.
