Hi, its me the newguy again. I have recycled plastic tubs for GBs, I want to cut a hole in the bottom of the side for the loop auto siphon.
What connection (cheap) can I use to attach the auto siphon to the GB. I thought about just cutting a hole and siliconing a regular irrigation connection but silicon isn't strong enough to hold, so you really need something that has a thread on each end so you can screw it tight from both sides.
If any of that makes any sense can someone please suggest an option.

cut loose at the local hardware or plumbing supplies one of those fittins that has a hex nut each side be the go should be cheap just love perussing all the interesting bits available maybe recyclers and scrounge fitting on an old toilet cystern

here is what i use from bunnings theres all different kinds some with a thread some not

Sounds to me like you are after a threaded barb fitting

I use something similar to FF.

i used poly fittings to make my own bulkhead fittings

i cut 2 of the hex nuts of a Tee then used a non tapered nipple ( think it was actualy a retic riser made of endless threaded poly ) and a flat O ring washer from a toilet seal kit that i had in my box of tricks. sealed up nicely without using a spanner or any silicone

Had a bit of a problem sealing a couple of those tubs... when I interconnected them...

Went to my local hydro shop... and picked up some stuff that does the job perfectly ...

"Flood & Drain" set ... comes in 19mm or 25mm ...



That's a threaded 19mm "Tub outlet" (with rubber washer).... a 19mm "Tub outlet extension"... a 19mm "Tub outlet screen"...

Together.... with extension...



Without extension...

Or ... you can use a 19mm/25mm joiner and a 19mm/25mm tophat gromett ...





Grommet on the inside of the tub to outside... joiner inserted into grommet...

My vote is for uniseals, but I have used rubber washers, male, and female pvc fittings too.

Yep ... I'd certainly go the uniseals for any pipe connections...

The stuff above is cheap and effective for hose type loop siphons...

I spent some time a bunnies, and got some attacments that seem to work but this stuf Rupert is perfect for what I was looking for.
Where, or whats a hydro shop. I want to go to one of those mate?
