Here are some photos of a system built for my daughters school. The requirments were firstly it had to be safe then easy to maintain (even on Holidays) and future proof. I would hate to leave the school and find it was no longer running. Aquaponics was the answer to all of these. I approched local departments and got some great help with some of the componants and even set up a auto fish feeder to stop any over feeding that kids love to do. I chose to use gold fish as I cannot see the kids eating there friends and they are hardy. In the last week I have encounted Green tree frogs. Are there poo good to?
Time for some photo's

I have frogs all the time in my system. Mostly in the sump. They lay lots of eggs and the fish eat their eggs so its a free lunch, but the frogs also get cought up in the pump from time to time.

I use to see a lot of frogs swimming in my system until the fish arrived. Now they don't go near the water but I hear them out there.

Looks good, but you will get root rot if there is no filter before the NFT.

Frogs are good = healthy water.

Hi outback.
The channel is full of medium (maidenwell) and there is an inline filter between the pump and inlet to NFT. I run the pump continously and so far all is working really well. I had an issue with the sun being to strong for the lettuce.
Do you think it would be better to time the feeding like F & D.
Thanks Shannon. I do love your setup

Nope... just operate it as you are Shannon... basically pure nft ...

Concern in AP systems with fish ... is if solids aren't filtered out they cling to the root balls and either create dry spots/channeling or root rot...

Same goes for your fruitwise strawberry tower... must filter the solids or they'll block everything... are yo continuously drip feeding the tower?

Hi RupertofOZ
Thanks for your thoughts. The strawberry tower uses a 2lt preasure pump 1 - times a week as it is full of coco. i have to give the kids something to do as the rest is automatic.

Kewl... got some Fruitwise stuff myself... so was aware of the nature of them... was wondering how you had it configured...

How's the tower going?
