Just a silly Idea for the little one's, the two legged type not the fish.
Make up a size chart.
When they get this big we start looking over the recipe's. (sp?)
this big we get the ingredients set aside.
this big we check over the bq make sure its ready.
this big we set the table and Eat.
Or something like that?

I like it John, I think it would take more than a chart for these fish to go on a hunger strike. I reckon there will be huge size differences within a couple of weeks. Some seem to eat heaps, others seem to get none. I saw one fish gulp 8 pellets in about 2 seconds today

Water tests this morning:

Ph dropped to 7

Ammonia <.25

Nitrites .25

Nitrates 10

Temp 24.5

I am thinking it may be time to buffer the water a bit more for Ph, seems to have started heading south (been 7.2 every day since I started)

Should I add another 600 gr of the salt or a bit of shell grit?

I'm not sure how long it takes before the shell grit starts taking any affect Stu. WHne my PH unusually swung upward, I removed the shell grit thinking that this may have been the cause. I put it in a small container (couple of litres) of water where it has been sitting for 2 or 3 weeks. Yesteday I ph tested that water and it was only about 7.4-7.6 :?

Stu, i'd try another 600 grams of salts, being marine salt it will buffer ph up, but you're also adding the Cl- ions which will help incase you have a nitrite spike in your cycling.

So the barra are still surviving okay. They were a bit slow on the feeding thismorning, temp was down to 22.5, the coldest it has been. It was pretty cold here last night. I have a quick video at this link of brekkie this morning.
