Hi mizzie44,

yeh, they are Flat-Headed Galaxias [Galaxias rostratus] also known as Murray jollytail, flat-headed jollytail.

They are protected native species Commonly grow up to 100-140 mm; up to 150 mm, 25 g.

Along with the other Galaxias they seem to be common in the irrigation system.

Here is a link; http://www.nativefish.asn.au/

God bless froggo.

Kind of looks like fish bait. If there protected put them back on the hook and gently throw back into the river.

Could be froggo but might be the Common Galaxiid.

http://www.mdbc.gov.au/subs/fish-info/n ... axias.html

compare with the flathead

http://www.mdbc.gov.au/subs/fish-info/n ... axias.html

That website the you posted had a picuture of a common galaxiid that look like one of these

http://www.mdbc.gov.au/subs/fish-info/n ... axias.html

So I don't know which one it is.

Anyway I'll be using some in my system because I think they are cute, local, native, and used to be caught around my area around 12" long.

Hi mizzie44,

I was worried about the chift pist pipe also so I used the angle grinder and made slots in mine to prevent that problem.

I'm not far away from getting some fish so it's good to know where other people are getting them from and any issues that arise.

Thanks for the info and God bless froggo.
