Instead of rotating the standpipe guard, maybe you get peice of tube that sleaves down the inside and make a cutter.

However it works, it looks very cool 8)

Holes are 6.5mm,

Cage is made from a bit of "telescoping" tube,
so I'll just grab a piece the next size up, slot it, slip it over the top of the cage and use that as a chopper.

Thanks for the tips

heh, I was trying to skirt around that issue....

There is conjecture on both sides - the truth is none of us have really tested the plastic in a lab, so we dont know for sure.

personally I would use it - but I am not on the food safe bandwagon. I dont take huuge risks with the materials I use in my systems, but I dont use all virgin plastics either.

With the amount that we are eating from the AP system, we'll be the first to know. Fish are pretty sensitive to chemicals, and they seem to be fine with black poly, HDPE and IBC's

I cant see any mercury or lead coming out of a wheely bin. Hopefully.

Just a bit late...... :D

Comp is well and truly over, but all I can find on Christmas Island that is suitable are wheelie bins - heaps of them. Lots of pvc pipe as well, you just have to know where to look - jungle grows fast here....

No hydroton, will have to use gravel, found a fish box that by chance happens to match the bin, so it is all looking very nice. :thumbleft:

Making some towers to go on either side.

Now just need some fish..... koi are popular here, just have to sweet talk someone to share.

Hopefully this is the start of the AP revolution on C.I.

A suggestion for a future wheelie bin contest. Entire system must be movable using only wheelie bin wheels (and moving plugs of course).
