even after cycled you will still get a reading for ammonia and/or nitrite sometimes as the bacteria may still be converting after a big shit session. They will be low reading though. I got a .25 ammonia reading last night, but 0 nitrite

added 3 weeks of eggshells from my chooks - starting to see a bit of growth its a month on sunday so i'll look at my phots then and compare- also buried a bit of grub affected fig leaf in the gravel to see if the worms i dropped in will have a crack at getting rid of it

VB, This will be hard to do, but try not to look at your bed for TWO DAYS.............then you'll see the BANG i'm talking about. I didn't realise the growth until i look back at my last picture i posted :)

Egg shells : Yes, good for buffering, but they need to be in the water flow. buried in the gravel is fine, but NOT just layed on top.
