Very sorry to see Steve, my condolences.

o2 is king.

KE - if your trout are dyeing at 18 deg c, you have other issues afaik. Nothing dead here yet apart from Black Bream

thanks all.

OBO, i agree, last year i had trout at a consistant 22C but with megga air.

dad lost one yesterday and one today and they were WHOPPERS, didn't weigh, but had to be 500g minimum.

F&F, only problem with silvers is overwintering them in the melbourne winter. not a huge fan personally.

End of the day my system could have had a few tweaks like a cover for the tank and airstones.......was operating on the parameters of the old in ground system and got caught out early.

now. has ANYONE got somewhere i can fish/steal/buy/borrow redfin?

its either that or i'm gonna buy a hundred goldfish

PS, i was fracked if i was going to bin all those fish, i figured they'd been dead an hour or two max, and whats the difference between fishing them out of a lake and leaving them in a bucket for two hours?

i spent an hour cleaning and gutting them and they are in a pot in the fridge. will distribute them to family today ;)

when you put a cover on the tank are you going to deepen the water? it seems very shallow.

Bugger..... Thats a horrible sight when you see them all upside down. Yeah, bit more water in the tank may have made it more temperature stable , not that this helps now... :?

it needed a top up yes, was going to get to it as i walked out side..................

i'm finding that my tank level drops quite a bit when the three GB's flood as the sump needs to fill to return 500L. i set the float for full swing, ie couple of inches from the top and it starts, couple of inches from the bottom it stops. i did this for motor life, but may have to compromise.

yet another difference between the contflow with siphon and my new system :)

What a bugger Steve - I feel for you. I have become very used to seeing dead fish (and good sized ones) while trying to bring my barra through winter.

On the upside - the system is in place and rearing for some new fish - good one.
