wouldn't it be nice to actually GET some mulberries before the little ratlings get them. All we see of them is the purple stain.

I remember having purple stained mouth, hands, feet and clothing as a kid and copping hell for it!
But we were back for more the very next day!

Picked 2 kilos from my tree on the weekend with the intention of making jam. Went to do this tonight only to find fruit fly maggots crawling all over the mulberries when I took them out of the fridge. To think I had eaten a heap of them on the weekend. I friggin hate fruit flies and they are so bad at my place - worse than any place I have ever heard people talk about. I have no idea why - can only think that somebody around here has very bad fruit hygene. Have just had some Naturalure deliverred from Bugs for Bugs, so will be trying that this year - but given how bad the fly is, I expect this too will fail. It is hard when u use no chemical pesticides, but this is something I will not ever do.

VB.......fish eat fruit fly larvae.......unless, of course, you'd rather keep them all for yourself.

Here is a photo taken last October on holidays at Jurien. Every second one is mine, Eli, then Sam then Jack. Eli and Jack are twins (12) and Sam is 10. The twins are darker like me, Sam is a blond boy just like his dad. All keen fishermen and surf rats. The others are friends kids we took along.
