i used to use blue tac in my hydro setup , so i dont see any probs with it , it is non toxic ,
only prob i see is that it tends to change with the weather , soft and sticky in the heat and hard and britle in the cold (blue tac) . ive never use the uhu tac white stuff but i think its the same thing. do a small test bit and lets us know how you go..

In the marine fish tank game, we use aqua knead it for coral plugs for sensitive SPS corals. Its safe, can go directly in a fish tank and sets rock hard. Its a 2 part stick you knead together. From memory I think it smells toxic but if it can go in a marine tank with SPS, you're on a winner because they die at the drop of a hat!

And another good point about knead-it is that you can work it/with it under water... great for sealing leaks...
