Maybe getting it to cycles without fish has its down side. Having a nitrate reading of 5 sounds small until you realize that is the reading per litre for 55000 lts. I need to shade the pool a little. I was thinking of using 3mtr lengths of PVC or that hydro channel sitting on a couple of lengths of steel over the pool. Have them side by side so no light gets under them. Will cover a third of the surface and I can run NFT with the water splashing back into the water. Maybe add a bit of shade cloth as well.

Will only grow lettuce and have it so I can pick up one length at a time. Or just use plastic to cover it in the mean time.

Adding more fish is likely to make the algae grow more not less - more nutrients produced by the fish = more algae?

Just got to wait it out I think - it should balance eventually... My pools pretty green at the moment and I've got 80 - 90 % shade cover...but I've got 200+ fish and plants that just won't grow (mainly due to high pH from the algae)... Patience grasshopper....... :happy5:

The green comes and goes. This one is my doing. I was adjusting PH with a little peat in the bio filter and it added nutrients to the system. But it did lower the PH.

The issue with big pools seems to be a lack of growbeds for the pool size.

Looks like turning over the water through the biofilter once per hour is required, even for large bodies of water.

I am watching your two threads with great interest 8)

I have posted the schematic diagram for one of these a few times  .
This link however shows how its built and the results http://www.koiphen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19198
Personally I would have tried canting the tower 45% putting a T for the outlet and then having a 45% pipe downwards from that under the water.
Wouldn't run it 24/7 but for a large system it seems a handy crap remover.

Ph 8.8
Am .25
Ni .5
Na 5

Pump lost its darn prime again. Might be why the Ph went back up. I had it moving down to 8.4. Got the new filter and solids removal thingie. Will post pictures when it's light enough to see them.

Bugger I knew I forgot something. :D
Was just how we got them inside. Was the second trip in when I realized it was the last time I would see them this clearly until the pool clears. Now if I'd only taken a photo of the first trip I could of counted them.
