Further..... seems to disappear as soon as I close the other "host"window that has the picture open....

Although if I click the picture and select "show picture".... it then shows up...

Not only in my post... but in Karens original post... (using the last image for test)...

Must be cached.... logging out, and back in....

This is the format I'm using:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/swanberg/SM3DtaBDxKI/AAAAAAAAAF4/nHqjS4Tp7GA/s400/IM000224.JPG

(of course, using square brackets instead of angle brackets.) Is this a picasaweb thing? I've never had problems posting images before, from flickr, a private server, and even picasaweb on my frontporch system thread. And I do know a bit about computers. :cwm21:

Rupe, I saw it the first time, but on re-load (and in a different browser), I didn't.

did you post in this form?
http://picasaweb.google.com/swanberg/Aq ... 5683358002

That's the whole picasa page, not just the image. I did that in the first two postings (the first because I forgot, the second because I'm an idiot). And for some reason, the pics display correctly the first time, but not after that.

My most recent attempt is just linking in the jpg itself (medium sized). I haven't lost that one yet. :-\

Thanks for the help. Maybe other google picasaweb users will benefit from this...

I'm going to try again...
Good thing I saved the text after the first failure!

Here goes:

The standpipe.

Down the hatch

Standpipe and loop siphon from the growbed:

Sump (just barely big enough):

Load testing with water. Hydroton layer to lighten the load a bit. I'm blown away that this bookcase is holding...
Image

Planted and with fish:
Image

The fishtank. The fish are in there, but most are in the hides or in the papyrus.

Planted growbed.

----

New stuff:
I figured with a planted bed, seeded gravel, and tiny fish, I wouldn't have an ammonia problem. :banghead:
D'oh!
:hsm:

Partial water change...
Will probably do another tomorrow, and no food for them!
Am contemplating salt and lemon juice, since the pH is about 7.5. (I'd be fine w/that with 0 Am, but too high with any Am level!)

I really need to get some shell grit for my older system, too. That pH is down near 6.

Despite my tone, I love all of this!

No ... I copied the url from the properties of the last undisplayed image you posted previously...

Then inserted it into a post with the "Image" code spec...

Format as ...

http://lh6.ggpht.com/swanberg/SM3DtaBDxKI/AAAAAAAAAF4/nHqjS4Tp7GA/s400/IM000224.JPG

Seems that format may work whereas the full url...

http://picasaweb.google.com/swanberg/Aq ... 5683358002

Wont display.... :dontknow:

P.S. ... can see your new (re)post ... did you use the direct "jpg" reference... ala above??

I can see it, both in the firefox I posted it from, and in IE. and I used the direct jpg reference.

And, I can see it on a different computer! Maybe things are good now...

I bet the problem was that the toes weren't inserted in the original pics properly

Came out good now Karen! :D Real pain when you do what you are always doing and it decides to respond differently.

I found your use of lemon juice really interesting.... How much do you add? Is the salt also to help with pH or just medicating? I live in a place called Kalkheuwel and so you can guess it..... if you know any Dutch ...."Calcium Hill". I have yet to set up my system but expect to have to watch higher pH than normal. My water is said to be very rich in minerals. With AP being a recirculation system it becomes very doable still and my fish have aclimated really well to conditions on the farm. I read somewhere that a system over time migrates toward acidity... ? .... can correct me if wrong....

Looks like a nice set-up you got started there.

Remember Karen - dont mess with it too much, you'll only upset the balance more. Is the ammonia that high that it needs a water change?

just a quick post...
OBO, the ammonia was over 1. By the temp/pH/Ammonia chart, that's toxic?

Chelle, I haven't yet added salt or lemon juice. Just contemplating it. I'm learning not to mess too much.

d'oh. Knowing the other variables would be useful:
Temp 80F/26C, pH 7.5. Am between 1-2. closer to 2.

Just for you, Ell.

It would have been for medication -- to help them weather this ammonia spike.

I did a total of 2 water changes, 4-5 gallons each, in what is probably a 40gal system. And no food. Now the ammonia is 0. I will feed them just a tad today. I'll also plant every clear inch of gravel, to give me some buffer. These guys are growing very fast. I knew tilapia grew fast, but didn't quite realize...
