With a lot of problems with keeping smaller fish over winter. Has anyone tried to keep a fingerling tank inside. A barrel in the corner. Drip water feed with the run off going outside to the FT. Or to the GB's as a drip system. Running the water through the GB's must cool down the water but just to keep the fish going over the colder months. Even in the shed with a small aquarium heater.

You mean like this [for more info see my thread]

you could probably ru the fingerling tank inside as an aquarium, normal aquarium water change maintenance (which varies between people ;)) run a normal cannister filter. if you want to be really water concious then just dump water change water into the AP system! (it what i do with all my aquariums, including the marine one

A few years back i had around 20 10cm silvers in a 4" aquarium. no problems at all EXCEPT you MUST have backup air if the power goes out. MUST.

My bait air pump from the bait shop lasts about 12 hours on a single set of batteries. Runs one air stone, possibly more but haven't tried it... could be an option at $12 :) We use it in a tupperware container when bringing marine fish home from Melbourne, 6 hours away. No worries at all.
