Not sure if this would work but I am sure someone will know.

I was thinking about how hot it can get inside a black container that is left in the sun. If I put an air pump inside that container would the air being pumped by that air pump get hot enough to be of any use in heating water.

In a word no yesterday the air in the glasshouse got to 48 deg and theres an air pump near the roof pumping air into 1000 litres of water by the end of the day the temp was 20 deg after a cold night the temp dropped to 15.5 even the beds did not get over 20 deg

and your pump will probably have a very short life in the HOT bucket

Wonder what the tank temp would be if you moved the air pump into a cooler spot.

get pretty hot in a black container. Use as a heater exchanger and pump your system water thru it..

or just fill it with water: it will buffer the heat for when you need it most: when the sun doesn't shine

I was thinking I may be able to kill two birds with one stone, increase oxygen and heat water at the same time.I did have some concern over how long an air pump would last in a hot environment. I thought the warm air pumped into the water would have some effect in heating the water, just wasn't sure how much.

I thought the hot air idea might work better and would be simpler than trying to pump water through the container but I have no experience in this area.

Ah well back to the drawing board.

I'd still like to do a test run. Maybe too tanks with different air sources. I liked the idea of pumping the air through a heat exchange. When I build a hot tub I was going to run pipe inside the walls of it. If you pump AP water through it you get a build up. But air might be a better way. The cooling down of the hot tub over night is not a problem because in the day the black pipe on the roof will heat it up again quickly.

a water/water heat exchanger is much more efficient than an air/water heat exchanger
solar heating of air is only interesting if you want to heat up the air, not the water

you'd need to pass 4000L of air though the tank to do the job of 1L of water at the same temp.

Liquid closed loop between the tub and the tank. No buildups in the line. Small pump.

put another way 1 litre of air at 50C would warm 1L of water by .0125 degrees (if the water had been at 0C)

A bit off topic but how would a 1400 sq in heat exchanger go simple get a 50 litre beer keg and put 2 pipes [one to the bottom the other to the top] pump your heated water [solor or what ever through it ] just drop the whole thing in your fish tank 50 litres is not much out of 1000 Just a thought
