don't forget the hormones from contraception
and all the other stuff that some athletes use to enhance their performance
apparently all traceable through urine
having a Michael Phelps in your tank would not be a real problem
but Tia Hellebaut (women's high jump, the only Belgian gold medal, 2.05 m) might be more difficult to constrain
(not that I suggest either of them has used something illegal) :)

LOL... I wonder if contraception hormones from peeponic cycling would alter fishy breeding? OR if testosterone would make bigger, beefier fish? But thats a whole other thread!

I think I'll try ordering yabbies online. I don't want any other nasty kinds of crustaceans in there  . LOL

Okay, okay, enough with the bad innuendo.

sorry, but drippers WILL get clogged - been there done that

I agree ,if you can think of a dozen things that could go wrong with drippers there will be another dozen that you never though of.I have just got a flood and drain system working with a small pond pump.you adjust the level it drains at with a chain on a hook and you don't need a timer.I am very pleased with it at present but it has only been operating for a few weeks,it seems fool proof but time will tell.I don't intend to use drippers again.

Hello Don,

sounds interesting
please explain
does it have an incorporated level switch for pump protection?
could you post a link to the manufacturer?

Mercury and lead are bio-accumulant, so they probably don't come out in urine. They stay in your body and build up over time.

and here is a pipe calculator for drain pipes:
http://www.sahra.arizona.edu/programs/w ... ToFlow.htm

remember that not only the diameter of the pipe, but especially the inside diameter of the outlet fitting (or any fittings) will decide whether there will be pressure build up in a system

So that tells me that the 50mm fittings I was planning to use won't be big enough.

Thanks Frank, very useful.

I've been trying to find out how to calculate that info for ages.

All the tables that I'd been able to find were for flow rates under pressures higher than I'll be operating.

Yep, I was talking about the urea.

I'm having trouble getting my hands on yabbies, if anyone has any known suppliers up their sleeve, please let me know!

I tried one from NSW (Newcastle?) but it would take 4 days for the little critters to get here and I'm not willing to risk it. I also tried Central Vic yabby farm, they don't have any due to drought and I couldn't even get onto AV Yabbies with the phone number I got off the net :(
