Hi Folks,

Some of little fish in my aquarium (Silvers and Golden Perch) are flashing now and again. Not all just a few of the smaller ones, I would like to salt the tank to 3PPT but am not sure which salt to use.

The tank holds roughly 240 litres, so about 750 grams of salt should be enough.

So who uses what?

Swimming pool salt is the easiest and cheapest to get, normal salt has iodine, so stay away from that

Not desperate, just don't want to leave it too long. If I don't do it tomorrow then it won't get done until Monday evening.

Thanks for the info.

I've heard that but have never tried it. Just curious if it is okay for fish.

Good for a cough or hiccup too. Glass of epson and you'll be too scared to cough.

So, dumb question, most salt sold in woolies, Bunnings, et al has no free flowing agent like aluminium sulphate?

Bunnings, IGA... have 25kg bags of "Sunray" swimming pool salt for about $6...

Sunray is produced by Cheetham Salt which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ridley
Corporation Limited ... the makers of Ridley's aquaculture feeds...

I use a 25kg bag about every 6-8 weeks....
