does anyone know if kava can be grown in aquaponics, and if so what is a good growing medium for it?

I know only what I've read, but it is supposed to like rich, well drained soil with high rainfall: sure looks like a candidate to me on those counts. However, it also is a root crop and what a root! 110lbs (50kg) average!? What sort of container would hold it? What would it do with AP? ("FEED ME, SEYMOUR! FEED ME!") :P
