Hi all,
My question is mainly related to Duratough (since thats what I bought for the hothouse).

My partner was talking to the courier who dropped the roll off and the courier said he was talking to a commercial grower who said some hothouse plastics have only got the UV protection on one side of the sheet.

We got the 180micron stuff with the 4year UV guarantee rating but don't want to muff it by putting it on upside down.

Anyone know if this rumour is true? Has anyone heard of it?

I doubt the UV part is true but Duratough is coated with a anti fog film and that needs to be on the inside. I would check with Redpath to be sure.

Aha! Thanks for that.

I messaged Redpath but no luck with a reply and I'd really like to get a wriggle-on with putting it up!

So, anyone know if, on a 4m roll, the anti-fog side is on the inside of the folded sheet, or on the outside?

Or maybe its printed on somewhere and I'm missing it?

My best guess is if the print is readable from the outside you got it right. It's all about the marketing

A lot of greenhouse films are UV resistant on one side only, so are most laserlight roofing products.

Hmm... So print to be read on the outside? Just like the Redpath hothouses? I guess you can't go wrong really if thats the way they do it? :|

imy, it is actually written on the plastic itself, as to which way it should be placed on the hoops.

Thanks. I haven't unrolled a lot of it and couldn't find any writing. If I don't find any, I'm just going to risk it and put the fold to the sun and the inside, inside.

To me it feels like a slightly more satin texture on the inside of the fold... I'm thinking thats the anti-condensation stuff to stop drips falling on the inside.

Just got a reply, and for future reference for others... when working with duratough, the number writing goes on the inside.

Unfortunately, too late for us  wish they'd taken less than 6 days to reply :( I've asked if it will cause any worries other than the condensation protection being on the wrong side. I'll update this thread when I know.

PHEW! No UV problems having the plastic upside down, just that the anti-drip component won't work (hey, maybe it will withstand rain and frosts better??? LOL)

Our hot house has a lot of glass windows in it so drips happen anyway.

What a relief!
