Funny (strange) stuff this fish keeping, one of my trout is missing a tail . Im not sure if one of the bigger ones got hungry (I sure wasn't feeding much ). Anyway I have taken to spending a few minutes at feed time tossing pellets in front of him, he struggles so hard I just want to make sure he gets food, now some of the others are following him so they can get to the food first

Does anyone know if fish can grow back tails/fins etc? He has been like this for about 3 weeks now and he is not giving up.

not giving up is a good sign . I think I have an anemic catfish, that isnt a good swimmer. still kicking along , but just doesn't have any ooomph to him.One of my stelth bomber catfish ( the big ones, has lost a tail side flap, from when I caught him out on the river, but he still gets by. Survival of the fittest

This is finrot. Bacterial. Make sure none of the other fish have shredded fins etc.

treatable or not Gemmell?? and how do we do so?? Cause I put a few coy carp into the system, and one had fin rot, the catfish killed him off straight up.

I did wonder about finrot, but I dont seem to have any others with problems. Unlike your picture its the whole tail all the way from where the fin starts and its not getting any worse. I did however lose a trout for no known reason not that long after I noticed this one so will keep a watch on them any way (not like I need an excuse)

split it from the group. Keep it in a 5-10ppt salt solution with a bubbler for air. The tail will be acting as a host for all sorts of nasties that will affect the rest of the fish in time.

Seemed like good advice I have setup a 100L isolation tank with venturi & pump water at 6ppt. Will watch to see how he goes

Ditto to the salt bath.. almost a certainty that a secondary fungal/bacterial infection will set in otherwise... it may recover....

I have had this problem in my quarantine system (due to low water flow/filtration I suspect), get any suspect fish out of the main system, and salt them. It spreads really quickly - even goldfish cop it bad.
