The aquafarm I'm getting my fish from is one of the largest in NSW. They run one air blower for there hatchery and fingerling tanks. For 3 months there power bill was $8. And out of all the tanks I saw while there I could see no water pumps moving water in any of there tanks, only large air stones the size of you arm. They use it so my guess someone worked out the fine details. How would you keep 100kl plus moving and aerated in a dozen different tanks for $8. Even when I tried to compare pumps in my pool I didn't put the water pump in a tube but it was on the top step, 10cm from the surface. When I get my air blower I'll post some pictures. But my guess from zero head the water displaced is greater with air lift. Above zero head the water pumps out perform. The added benifit of getting o2 into the water should be also taken into account in an AP system. Also a 1000lph pump has little effect in my 55kl pool. But one air blower with 10 air stones spread out over the whole area. I'll post results when I get them.

Hi please get more info on a blower that can run for three months on $8 the average blower uses 300 watt about 80 c a day So around $80 for three months

Just quoting them. When they started the air blower was all that was running so that was there power bill for that period. We pay around 15c a kw now but this could of been a few years ago. I found this air blower online HG-090 Air Blower * 200 litres pr minute *
Model: HG-090 (Power):90W (Pressure):7.5kPa That would run at 2.16kw a day so @15c thats 32c a day and for a 90day bill $29.16. But an ag business could be on a lower rate. Or this was when they first started. I hope that was not the one they are using because I ordered the 400lts a minute air blower. Might have a air problem with too much air. What the heck I'm use to having too much air. But it is usually hot. :D

could be that they are connected to a source which is common practice for hatcheries
that means you don't have to do much pumping
very hard to compare with AP where recirculation is the codeword

but I am speculating

Source. Do you mean water source. Like having water go through there system and out again. They use tanks. But I would guess they bleed some of the water from there system to keep it clean. I'll have a better look in Nov when I get my silvers. :cyclopsani:

exactly
when fish eggs are ready to hatch, an enzyme is produced inside the egg which helps the larvae to break through the egg shell.
Recirculating the water could let this enzyme come into contact with the outside of eggs not ready to hatch causing premature hatching.

In nature streaming water removes the enzyme from unhatched eggs, big water bodies dilute it.

I don't know if thorough filtering can eliminate this enzyme from the recirculated water.
