Hi All

I am building a new CHIFT PIST system using IBCs as the fish tank and sump and am not sure on the plumbing.

Is it possible to build a venturi drain using the existing hole at the bottom of an IBC i.e. are there fittings that will work with the IBC thread pattern; or should I just cut a hole at the top of the IBC and use one of those black tank connectors/bulkhead fitting or whatever you call them from the B store? Standard PVC fittings will work with them so I could make a simple venturi drain using a T joint and a length of pipe.

FF, There are fittings that join into an IBC thread (why did they make them different?), but I will be using bulkheads that just go through the side of the IBC. Cheaper and easier for me.

those fittings which fit the thread on the tank are around, but not that easily available ... food and fish might still have the address of a store which stocked them...
bulkheads (skin fittings) are a lot easier to find and in various diameters too

Those fittings are available at most irrigation shops about $20.00 now as for plumbing through the walls have a look at the last pagers of my system

Except for Kalgoorlie irrgation shops

they are called Nyglass threaded tank inlet, $4.94 each, get all your plumbing there,
1 inch ball valves $4.81 each, they are about $20 in plumbing stores
Freight is extra, but if you get all your gear in one order, its cheap!!

Also look for tophat grommets or the version I found here in the states, uniseals.

Much cheaper than bulkhead fittings usually. You can use rubbing alcohol to make the pipe slippery to go into the uniseal or tophat grommet, this won't leave enough dangerous residue to hurt the fish the way soap in windex could.

Here is how I connected a bunch of buckets together with uniseals and 1.5 inch PVC.
Could do something similar with IBCs.

Yea mine is up and running no leaks i use sellys roof and gutter put it on push the sides up to it and seeing it was a running system water was over it within the hour
