i wouldnt use it exclusively though OBO unless you want to try salt water auqaponics :), i used to catch it in a bucket and water the lime tree, it didnt mind it at first but after a month or so it started to look very sick couple of weeks on fresh ( well tap water anyway) water and it perked right up

folks in perth might be intersted to know that from my observation the water quality has significantly improved over the last month going from a conductivtiy of over 1000 micro semiens to about 250, my guess is that since they turned off the desal plant cause of the gas crisis they have swiched to the dam water for a while, so enjoy it while its fresher than normal

Cheers

It was interesting for us drinking water in Perth. The water from the hotel in Cottesloe was one step away from being pure sea water :puke:
The rain water from Faye's place was magnificent

Water out of the tap here is down right awful, I filter the stuff before drinking.

I always thought that using the condensate water from any AC/dehumidifier was a bad idea as the surface that collects the condensate also tends to collect dust and grow mold and bacteria something awful. It be good to use, it probably needs to be purified of those contaminants. I believe there are a few diseases that can grow rampant this way. Back when I was into Hydroponics I had asked about using the dehumidifier water for Hydroponics. I was told that I could probably take care of nasties in it by adding hydrogen peroxide. This might not be such a good idea in AP though.

I know that the theory is the condensed water should be very pure provided the atmosphere is relatively clean but you also need to make sure the surface the water is condensing onto is clean and the pan it drips into is clean.

Also the point about the impurities in the air getting into the water. Once upon a time, we thought rain water was the most pure but we know it can carry impurities from the air.

Then again, If things are kept really clean and other sources of water are scarce, People must make their own decisions.

I usually use the dehumidifier water to flush the toilet, that way I only have to deal with the dust ring rather than the mineral ring in the toilet. (Note, we rarely use the toilet here as we humanure compost, Toilet only gets flushed occosionally to clean it or if there are visitors that don't wish to use a sawdust toilet.)
