Nitrate is now at 40 and I'm taking a couple of litres of water a day for the larger system. This is keeping the Am and Ni at a good level. Also I can keep the feed up to the goldfish. They keep looking at me wanting more.

Growth seems good compared to the rest of the punnet planted. And these don't get as much sun as the others.

Last guppie bit the dust. They really like to sleep next to the pump inlet. Or the water got to the little guy. I was keeping the am up a little but with daily changes for the larger system. The goldies don't seem to care. They are more active in the bin than in the aquarium shop. And they had a better view there. :confused2:

Older picture. They are 2in higher than that now. And compared to the rest of the punnet they can in. They are more than three times larger than the others.

LOL the tests do stain if you leave them in LONG enough (my slackness knows no bounds :)) nitrate is the worst. but they clean out easy enough if you roll up a tissue and stick it in the tube and rotate.

Was there anything in this system to keep the PH that high? Hopefully it starts to drift down eventually.

I think taking seed water out all the time delayed the cycle or was taking bacteria out. Now that I'm not touching it the levels have hit the 0 and over the next week maybe the Ph will start to drop. There are only 5 goldfish to one small GB.

I agree dl, doing water changes while cycling seems to delay the process.
