I have the 500ltr version of the tank in my system.

Only growning gold-fish at this stage but was planning on using the tank as a sump for my next system.

Might have to do some research on it. I will send an e-mail to B and, if I get a response, I will post it on the forum.

Someone has done the research. For the life of me I can't remember who or where. They contacted the manufacturer. Ahh after about 15 minutes of searching, I found it! Scottt had contacted them:

I reckon those tanks are quite brittle. Imo you would be better shelling out for good second hand ibcs, easily moved, flexible plumbing options, generally enclosed in a support cage. Do you really want to eat fish that have lived in plastic that is not food grade?

Not so sure about brittle. When I bought mine I underestimated the size and took the wagon instead of the trailer. Squeezeed it to fit in back of wagon and tied the door open. Wasn't brittle.

Summary seems to be ..... over-priced , under strength and NOT considered safe ....., I'll have 10:)

Seriously why take the risk??
200 litre food safe barrels are available for $10 ,, 5,000 litre rain water tanks for about $500.

:boohoo:

My opinion is that it's like everything on here - PVC/glues/plastics/metals/etc etc. The pestacides & GM crops are probably going to do you more damage than anything coming out of your system. You'll probably be fine. If you're paranoid send your stuff away to get tested before you eat it.

Chappo, were you quoting a known source for that price or making a generalisation?

If you were quoting a known source, who? I am looking for 5000lt tank for my next system so would love to know.

Tks

FWIW, apparently these 500L tanks are now clearing out of some stores at $19!! For a 500L tank, that's soooo cheap. Wonder why though?
