The wine barrel will be lined with something ( any suggestions ? ) and used as another body of water

Did you know that you can buy liners which hold water and sit inside of barrels (maybe 1/2 wine barrels) the purpose I think is for water gardens. I have seen them in catalogues, if you want more info just let me know and I will see what I can find out.

more pics

I cut some threaded black poly & put on 2 fancy brass tap / valve things

If I ever want to drain this pond for some reason this'll make it easier .
Ive drilled through the brick & stuck the pipes through , sealed with liquid nails , then silicon once that was dry , all through the thickness of the brick .
Time to render the inside of the pond , I'll lump cement all around the inside and outside of the two drain pipes to make them sit in there stronger , then I'll really overdo it with the bitumous sealer aover top of that

Ive sealed all the gaps in the old wine barrel with liquid nails ( I preffered that over silicon cause Ive had trouble painting over silicon in the past - liquid nails can be easily painted over & I wanted to be sure the bitumous sealer would stick .
Ive sealed the inside of the barrel with the first coat of sealer , its nice & gluggy and black , pics soon

Now to get rendering before the sun goes down

Rendered the inside of the pond yesterday in one hit , its dried out pretty good & doesnt look to be all crumbly like my last effort

The barrel has got the first coat of black sealer on it , plus the overflow pipe which I put through an existing hole in the barrel rather than try to plug the hole

What plant is that ?
I planted all kinds of things from seed but have no idea what this is . Theres heaps of it and its growing like crazy .

its definitely a vegetable or herb , its not a fruit bearing plant and the root system looks shallow & spindly ( although I havent dug one out fully to see whether theres something underneath )
can someone identify it ?

no , its definitely a vegetable of some sort . I did put heaps of different seeds in there & Ive forgotten exactly what

the leaves taste pretty flavourless - like a cross between extremely mild rocket & celery , Im pretty sure its not grown for the leaf ...

It might turn out to be something silly like potato & I just dont know it

Im going to dig one right out tomorrow and see if theres any root vegetable buried under there

The top growbed is eventually going to be lined with black plastic or more batu decking
