You'll need a water temp of over 20 deg c as well.

I would start by seeing someone with an existing system/aquarium/pond and get as much 'gunk' from it as possible. Avoid tanks or ponds which are really green
as you do not want to get too much algae in there if you can help it... A good source of ammonia would be pre-digested food, ie fish crap from an existing
system.

If you are after a few trout in the next few weeks, I may still be able to get some. But they may cost $4-5 each as they are getting bigger and bigger. Plus
it is the guys eating stock so he wont part with many once he starts fattening them up.

Or if you want a few yabbies I might be able to spare a few... lol. Or 20... Or 100.... Still got heaps.

Hi All

Thanks Dufflight, the challenge I had was to keep some space in our very small yard for the dog and the soon to arrive addition to the family, I was forbidden to put it in the front yard...... and the distance to pump to GBs from a suitable tank location was a heck of a long way.

Nocky, OBO will wait until Oct to put in some barra, by then water temp shouldbe more suitable.

TimC, if I go the yabbies, pre Barra, then we would get a feed wouldn't we :) ???
Is it as simple as removing the yabbies and putting the fish in, or are there more sinister issues that I am yet to be made aware of ??? If I was to go for some bigger trout now, the Mother in law would claim them all......

The yabbies will provide a good ammonia source and they will breed in September so you will have an unlimited supply...

I would keep the yabbies in as long as you can before the barra eat them, they will keep the bottom of the tank really clean.

...Or Eat them...

I am saving so much $$$ on petrol now!

Have a few plants in and managed to grab a few yabbies as well.

So that's it!. Am I "officially" an AP'er now?

Big thanks to Master Installer Carl and his two apprentices Peter and John.

That's not too bad. Be different if it was a honda or a HD. I myself like to compromise.. by doing the AP and keeping my bike. :D

I thought you were worried about not getting enough sun, now you've got a roof covering your system? What has that done to your light levels?

Thanks Faye

K.E. Yeah, I was worried about it, experimented with a few loose pots...... and they lived!

So that was my litmus test to see if the area was viable for light.

Worse case scenario is that it doesn't work and I pick it up and move it...

Best case scenario, nummy nummy food and fish/yabbies. mmmm. paella is sounding good.
