I'm looking at entering the foray and am thinking about using small swimming pools for my grow beds and a larger one for the FT. Should I pursue or abandon? Thanks

Do you mean a blow up pool??

Don't know how they will go as GB's. As tanks go I hope they work well as I'm going to be using one and thats more because it came with the house and I don't swim in it much. With the pump going on a timer and the chemical I through in it I might as well be throwing fish food in instead. Post some picture of the pools you where thinking of using. Give us an idea of size and material.

I was thinking of the round 4'x8" plastic kiddies pool for the GB and 13'x3.5 with frame for the FT.

For the growbed i`d say no, the gravel is likely to damage the liner. For the fishtank the round framed ones would be ok. I`d add a plywood or galv steel sheet ring "wall" to the outside though.. otherwise cats might decide to claw the liner to death in the night

If the pool liner only lasts a few years its no biggy as you can always plonk a quality pond liner on top of it at a later date and retain the frame.

Fair enough... but how long will it last filling and draining...
It would be a real bugger if it broke when you were not home!

Chift pist would be the way to go there

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll put the sp's on the backburner. After all my reading on the site it seems like the CHIFT PIST is the way to go for newbies. I have an IBC, two bathtubs and a couple of blue barrels. I think I'll use the IBC as the FT, 2 bt's as my GB's and use the barrels as my ST.
