Hi everyone,

Been lurking on and off for about 6 or 7 months now and decided to join at last.

Don't have a system as yet, but have a heap of material sitting around (a few 200L blue drums, an IBC, a cheap pump, cr@ploads of poly pipe, a box of scrounged fittings, etc... maybe even a bath) as well as Joel's book.

I'm sure I can get something happening using that stuff. Will finally devote some time to it now.

I visited FF and saw his (great) setup in December - that's about as close as I've come to touching anything AP related... actually anything related to fish, as well!

I'm in Glenroy, so if anyone lives not too far from there and feels the need to show off their setup to a newbie I'd be very grateful!

Wow, I think you replied before I even posted!

On the east side, off Waterloo Rd. Oak Park, actually. You?

Heard about AP from a few diff sources, I guess. I remember sometime last year, my dad told me about something he saw on TV about "some guy who grows all his veges with fish water" (maybe Joel?). Not long after that, I was browsing the Permaculture forum and saw a message posted by Joel. A few days later, saw him on the cover of Grass Roots or similar mag and thought, "this is a sign".

You did well to get past childhood, then :!:

My street isn't on your list. Now I'm starting to doubt your claims...

But seriously, I think you can work out what street it is - it's close to the ones you mentioned.

Any chance of seeing your setup sometime?

well, i'm fairly sure north of barina is glenroy, there are no others south of snell unless you're on devon.

might have missed one between barina and jessie? ;)

Soon, am completing a proper BYAP system :)

Sounds good. I'll have to get some more gravel, then. I did have 2 of those black recycling buckets full of it, but someone actually stole it a few months ago - left it on the nature strip next to my car at about 1am, and it was gone by 6am! Happy to report that that was in upmarket Pascoe Vale South, NOT Oak Park (or Glenroy, heaven forbid!)

yeah, 'cause in glenroy they would have been scared of getting jumped for it after they stole it :)

I maintain that my first system has been a R&D station, taking hits for the team time and time again.

(watch all the smart arse bastards comment now........................;))

Well, only been where we are for 3 weeks now, and haven't had my lunch money stolen, so that's something... I hear bad things about this neck of the woods. But then again, I hear from people that there are bad, bad people walking everwhere among us (or so the TV keeps reminding them)...

I just had a quick look at you old system - that's somthing like I was thinking, just to start out.

Looking forward to starting (maybe tomorrow).

One thing I'm not looking forward to is the testing and stuff. I hate working with numbers. Numbers that change are even more frustrating!

Thanks for the welcome, C1!
