Some creatures can survive amazing things but in a properly cycled system you do want your ammonia and nitrite to be 0 or at least below .25. Nitrate is what you want for the plants.

found a dead marron today, but did have a sick one before that I thought was shedding shell, have marron nets in tank now to see if I can catch any, I have a breed pair of Blue Marron coming this evening, so want to make sure I have live ones before I put blues in tank, I tested ammonia today to see if it had climbed and maybe sacrificed my marron but it has actually dropped below are Saturdays for last 2 weeks and today's ammonia only
Week 1 28th June
Ph = 7.6
Ammonia = 1.5ppm
No2 = 1ppm

Don't know what caused the spike still, this week have pump on 24/7 so maybe this is the answer, still think dead marron could have caused it, but then what caused it to die, was better when I didn't have a test kit :lol: but seriously get down to EB's and get one, Blue Marron (link) are in and I want everything perfect for them, still don't know if No2 and No3 are right so maybe one of the guru's can tune me in hope to get around 200 baby blue's this year so stay tuned and will let you's know if any for sale, I have brown females as well so maybe get more if they breed more blue than brown

Nocky, dont discount using a low wattage water pump for aeration as well.
