Hello Everyone !
I am getting ready to dive in to Aquaponics and would like to know if anyone has a working system in Yamhill county Oregon?
I am totally sold on this idea and can't wait to interact with all of you! I will keep everyone informed on my journey with plenty of pictures and welcome any and all advice.

Thanks,
Buffalojoe

Hi Buffalojoe,

Welcome aboard. In my time on the various AP forums, I've heard of one system in Wilsonville, on on the coast and we're in Vancouver. We'd be happy to show you what we have though it is still lacking fish. With fingers crossed and holding of breath, we should have them by the end of next week. The system has been up and running since the beginning of March and currently holds 5 lonely tilapia that are doing all the work of feeding the plants. :?

WoW! I wasn't expecting so many posts so fast! I will try to answer in order. My plan is to set up a small AP system in a green house and work out the kinks. Then go bigger!
Good to hear there are a few people from Oregon and Washington That are interested.
What a coincidence Victoria! That Craigslist listing you showed me , I know that guy . In fact I work with him, soooo funny! The Tilapia in your system , where did you get them? I would like to start with tilapia but I have no idea where to purchase live fish.

Uh, wife is from Scapoose...don't have any idea if that's close. Do I win? :D
Welcome to BYAP!
Please be advised, a member system thread with LOTS of pics is required. Otherwise flogging will result.
Guess I should update my own...My System
Have any thoughts about CHIFT PIST, autosiphons/bells, sump/tank size, # of growbeds, crops wanted to grow, etc?
Lot of knowledge here, just ask! (Not me, I'm a noob!) But I do have a small system. Just don't use a well pump! :(
Be aware that AP is an addiction that is hard to quit. This is a good support group for your problems(AP-wise anyway).
Now where was I...oh yes, heading to the garden...sidetracked again... :)

The tilapia are a bit of a long story. The 5 we currently have are from an Asian fish market. I wouldn't advise that route as the fish are not healthy. We watched some pretty horrible deaths and ended up with 5.

We are supposed to be getting an order the end of this next week from Flaherty's. We will have extra as the minimum order is 100 so perhaps we could work something out.

I would love to take some of those Tilapia off your hands but unfortunatley I am nowhere near ready. It will be at least a month before I can get fish. I have to build a deck and greenhouse first , you know, little projects .

We'll have to stay in touch. We will have plenty of room initially for all 100 fish. It's just as they grow out that they could become problematic. I'll confirm when I have fish and watch for your system thread ;-) for how it's all coming along.
