A man was riding his Harley along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, 'Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.

The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over any time I want.'

The Lord said, 'Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a lit tle more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.'

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, 'Lord, I wish that I and all men could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a Woman truly happy.'

The Lord replied, 'You want two lanes or four on that bridge?

Ok... am doing a little research for a friend. She has started going to these meetings in City West. The organisers of this 'team' are setting up
a 'project' it is called i-commerce. Now I couldn't find anything on the web. After five meetings she is convinced that she will be able to retire in 5 years... hmm!

I went to a introductory meeting with some dude with a crappy notebook, with about 4 names in it. Wearing a very ordinary tee-shirt btw.
He started to go through a very basic business model, talking about passive and active income etc, etc. Just to humor him I pretended to listen.

Stage 1 - $1000 per month
Stage 2 - $1000+ per week

Sounds good right...

He had no Idea what the whole thing was about, he spiel was very rehearsed, and he read from a broucher which looks like it went through the wash,
I asked to have one but he didn't have any.

Tonight I found this... www.yazzi.com.au This website basically sums up everything that was in the broucher...

What do you reckon? Should I try and talk some sense into my friend? Or should I go to a meeting and investigate further...?

If she invests money = trouble, sounds like an amway sort of thing, i.e. legal pyramids

I know that it is too good to be true. The folks got stuck once in shonky investment thing, so I know to be skeptical...

The problem is that she is hooked and talks about it like a true brainwashed drone... "Just come to the meeting and it will all make sense" sort of thing.

What would be a good way to convince her to get out? Or let her learn the hard way?

LOL, just to play devils advocate, explain to me how the standard corporate model

Ie

CEO on the top earing 100K
management in the middle earning 65K
and the plebs at the bottom earning between 27K and 45K

is any less of a pyramid?

IMHO Multi-level marketing's two negatives are

1) People are lead to believe that its easy money. Nothings easy, just as a a person running his own biz for about the first 5 years knows they put in triple the hours for half the money. and if they're real lucky the biz takes off and pays them back nicely later on in life.

2) The constant references to amway ;) LOL

I dont think there is anything inherently bad about it. The reason reasonable to high returns are paid is becasue the million dollar budget that would have gone to advertizing ISNT.

You definatly got to be a salesman. Im not.

Its not for me personally (in a biz sense) BUT unlike MANY people i have not thrown out the baby with the bath water just because i didn't make 10 million dollars sitting on my ass.

If your friend expects that then YES advise her against it.

I'm quite happy to buy products from people selling them via a MLM company if i

1) actually need the product
2) its dollar value to product value is comparable

Be well advised though, there ARE good and bad MLM companies................

anything that requires a substantial "join up fee" above $100 for example probably warrants caution.

there is also quite a difference in "commission" layouts and setups.

Rant over.

Nah, good rant. I just wanted to know that I am not the only one who thinks these things are a bit fish...

Its not for me so I don't think I will go any further with it. I just can't help think about people that are convinced that
this is how they are going to become rich... Especially your friends...

first impression? get her out ;)

website looks positivly shite

doesn't actually tell you anything

i cant even tell if its actually MLM or not, LOL

and judging by the dudes presentation you relayed it has an overall shonky feel ;)

Just to be clear, for the right person MLM can be quite rewarding. dont belive the hype (of EITHER CAMP ;))
