Yes, a 100AH battery, 150w inverter, and a small charger is all that is required for a backup system. Can run an air pump or a small water pump. I run mine 24/7 because then I will notice straight away if it is not working - before there is a power failure.

I always put the cart before the horse Rup. Or I'm doing things Half-A**ed.
Yes almost edible Dave. I tried to determine the sex of the victims, but for the life of me I could find no defrance amongst the lot. They are in the ground now.
Ell, it takes me down by a third roughly. Luckly I have the same number of Tilapia that are not hooked to any growbeds so maybe a little re-arranging for the summer, maybe.
I have a UPS that aint doing nothing OB, going to set that with a bubbler for emergency and hope it will hold em. All my extra gold is not going into my AP addiction sadly, so some dreams will have to stay just that.
An update on the tube collector heating the guppie water. No deaths and it runs during the day hours for Five days now. No measurements of water quality other then the fish are alive.
I havent finished the heat exchangers yet.
Feed the fish eat yer veggies!

I'm curious whether you could put say half of the tilapia out in the greenhouse for July and August. Is the water warmer than 70?

Yes Dave, temperature wise it would not be a problem now. I would not add them to the main fish tank with the perch though, sort of chicken of the response they would have to each other. The tilapia are not a very gentle fish and would most likely kick some Perch butt?
I would hook them up to the rubbermaid grow bed, very dooable just a space issue but the plus is no added cost for plumming etc.

Your NOT a dumb ass,,,,your power supplier is.
I couldn't imagine living in places with all these"black-outs",,,amazing.

I've seen only 1 lengthy ( 2 hour ) black-out here in 5 years,.....,,still I'll ensure a battery air-pump just in case.

Just wait until they privatise the power supply Chappo ....

Company profits and preventative maintenance and structural reinvestment seem to be opposing philosphies in modern business these days...

I'll argue the point. I am a Dumb Ass. I have been using an oil filled sump pump for my main pump. These pumps last about six months. I have gone through three to date.
I did not have a power outage. The pump failed and tripped the breaker.
Who's the Dumb A**? ME! ME! ME!
Spend the extra coin for a goodpump (for fish) and as a back up use a bubbler in case of pump power loss!
Ok, have to go get some stuff to roof my house, feed yer fish and eat yer veggies!

Guppie's are still doing fine with the collector heating their water. Guess its been about three weeks now. Up until the last few days I had been shutting off the flow of water to the collector during the night but now its just flowing 24/7. The night temps will not cause the water to go below guppie range so easier to just leave it on.
3 Cherry Tom plants have taken over the green house and I can barely make it past them to feed the fish.
I'm going to call the Evacuated Tube Collector a go but will see if I can test the water for copper to be sure. I'm going to skip the testing on all but the Perch thinking they will be the more sensitive of the fish.

Still heating the guppie water with the Evacuated Tube Collector and they are fine. Dumped about 40 gallons of the guppie water into the Talapia tank and they are also doing fine.
Harvesting cherry toms and a few (very few cucs), they got the mange. So no real change feeding the fish and eating my veggies.

Hey GF, what is the guppie water temp? It is darn hot around here this weekend, why heat their water now? Unless it's for testing reasons...
